To celebrate the 2022 Summer Reading theme, “Oceans of Possibilities,” the Division of Library and Information Services and Florida State Parks bring you “The Real Florida Reader” state park pass. This pass is available for library card holders to check out from the Destin Library or any of the other five Okaloosa County Cooperative libraries. The pass allows for single day-use entry for one passenger vehicle, up to eight people, to use at one of the 175 state parks in Florida. The pass can be checked out for one week and must be returned to the owning library. For an extra challenge, check out a book about Florida’s wildlife and natural resources and see if you can identify any of the flora, fauna, or habitats seen at the park.
The Real Florida Reader Day Pass will be available from May 21 through September 12, 2022. The pass does not include camping or any other activity fees and excludes access to Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs, Skway Fishing Pier, and Weeki Wachee Springs state parks. Local, municipal, county, or federal parks, national forests, or national wildlife refuges are not included in the pass. To find a list of participating parks and other information, go to www.floridastateparks.org/RealFloridaReader or you can contact the Destin Library at 850-837-8572 or library@cityofdestin.com.
