Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on Dec. 24.
Scammers are once again pretending to be from the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office in an effort to con people out of their cash.
The phony caller is telling people they're in trouble for civil paperwork and need to pay up to fix the issue.
If you call back the fake number you're given, an imposter will answer with "Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office."
Please don't fall for this scam - and warn others you feel may be vulnerable to this type of fraud.
