U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz from Florida has announced the introduction of the "Judicial Action to Impose Liability for Alien Voters Act," also known as the JAIL for Alien Voters Act. This legislation aims to impose felony charges on illegal aliens who vote, aligning with President Donald Trump's recent statement: "[i]f you vote illegally, you are going to jail!" The proposed law would make voting by an illegal alien a felony, carrying penalties of up to five years in prison or a $10,000 fine. This is similar to the penalties faced by U.S. citizens who unlawfully vote.
Earlier this month, Congressman Gaetz introduced another piece of legislation titled the "National Motor Voter Clarification Act." This act seeks to allow states to remove illegal aliens from their voter rolls at any time. Both legislative efforts aim to protect U.S. elections from what Gaetz describes as voting by tens of millions of illegal aliens entering through the U.S.-Mexico border during the Biden-Harris administration.
The JAIL for Alien Voters Act is supported by several co-sponsors including Representatives Andy Ogles from Tennessee, Andy Biggs from Arizona, Mike Collins from Georgia, Claudia Tenney from New York, and Barry Moore from Alabama.
"President Donald Trump is right: illegal aliens who vote in our elections should be in jail," stated Congressman Gaetz. He emphasized that it is unacceptable for illegal aliens to receive lighter sentences than U.S. citizens for election fraud and expressed that his legislation seeks parity in punishment regardless of immigration status. "It’s common sense that U.S. citizens should be the only ones voting in U.S. elections."
