The University of West Florida’s Division of Academic Engagement and Student Affairs in partnership with the UWF College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities; CASSH Workgroup on Race, Ethnicity and Belonging; and the UWF Center for Fine and Performing Arts invite you to a special event on Tuesday, January 17 at 6:30 p.m. The performance will be held in the Mainstage Theatre at the Center for Fine and Performing Arts on the Pensacola campus.

Artists at Play presents “Dissonance,” a two-woman play that explores a heart-warming conversation on race, love and friendship. Continue the celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day at UWF with this touching representation of friendship across differences and a chance to learn about marginalized experiences.

“Dissonance” is written by Florida born and Alabama based playwright/actress Marci J. Duncan, UWF assistant professor of acting, in collaboration with Pensacola based playwright/actress Kerry Sandell, a UWF alumna. The production is directed by James Webb, a New York-based playwright, director and educator, whose work is centered on the southern Black experience.

When best friends of 20 years meet at the new building where they plan to open their cafe, they are met with revealed secrets and hard discussions. They learn these are necessary to determine if their friendship and business will survive.

The production is free; however, event reservations are recommended. Reserve your seat on EventBrite.
