The Okaloosa County School Board approved a proclamation to declare the month of May as "Take Stock in Children Month," at the May 9th School Board meeting.
The Proclamation (pictured below) was presented at the request of the Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation, the organization that sponsors the Take Stock in Children program. The program provides mentors to high school students who meet specific criteria to be in the program. Upon graduation these students receive a Bright Futures scholarship.
Attending on behalf of the Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation were its Board Members, along with Cindy Frazier, Susan Campbell and Miranda Cook, coordinators of the Okaloosa Take Stock in Children program. The Foundation Board has set a goal of reaching 100 students in the program, and this proclamation will give recognition to the program in an effort to achieve that goal.
