University of West Florida issued the following announcement on Sept. 28.
The second-ranked UWF men's golf team had a solid final round of 284 to finish the Cougar Invitational in fourth place. The team's 860 total was just three shots out of second place.
Sophomore Elias Haavisto finished in third place, carding a 1-under-par 69 on Tuesday for a 4-under-par 206. He had 37 pars, nine birdies and an eagle in the 54-hole event.
Senior Carlos Marrero used an even par final round for a 215 total and an 11th place finish. His 11 birdies were the most by an Argo and tied for second-most in the 78-player field.
Junior Felipe Garces was a shot back at 74-70-72=216 while competing as an individual. Classmate Cameron Bonner was the fourth UWF representative in the top 20, tying for 20th at 78-68-72=218.
Senior Patrick Poate tied for 51st at 225 and sophomore Nicolas Rubio tied for 61st at 229.
Lee won the team title with an 838, while Oliver Lewis-Perkins and Beck Burnette tied for medalist honors at 204, two strokes ahead of Haavisto.
The Argos will be ini action again next Monday and Tuesday when they travel to south Florida for the Shark Invitational, hosted by Nova Southeastern at Grande Oaks Country Club.
