5

University of West Florida issued the following announcement on Sept. 28.

Gabriel Arraes had three of the six goals for the Argos

West Florida came off the almost two week break due to weather cancelations with a win over Pensacola Christian tonight. This is their first home game in two years.

The Argos improve their record to 3-0-1 for the 2021 season while PCC falls to 2-7.

During the first half, the Argos held most of the offensive possessions. West Florida outshot the Eagles 22-3. Both teams were scoreless in the first twenty minutes of play. Finally, the first goal was made by #26 Keegan Ancelin assisted by #10 Ed Chappe. This dynamic duo has really been connecting and converting offensively for the Argos.

After the first goal, the Argos started being more aggressive offensively with goals by midfielders, #8 Bernardo Torres and #7 Kainan Dos Santos. Defensively, the Argos were like a brick wall with #5 Elijah Howe and #4 Furkan Artar to stop any offensive drives the Eagles had. West Florida was able to cap off the half with a 5-0 lead over the Eagles.

Starting the second half, UWF brought in many different faces including #13 Owen Hawkins, #6 Jacob Tankersley, and #19 Bishop Bosland. The Argos improved their lead in the sixty-eighth minute of play with a goal by #9 Gabriel Arraes to increase the lead to six.

Senior forward, #9 Gabriel Arraes had a stellar night with three out of the six goals for the Argos. He would have the final goal to cap off a great night for the Argos leading them to beat the Eagles 6-0. There could've been more goals for West Florida, but the Eagles goalkeeper, Adam Lund had a great game with a total of seven saves.
