School Board Approves New Administrators – Congratulations to Ernest “Joey” Chancellor

2

Okaloosa County School District issued the following announcement on Sept. 28.

The Okaloosa County School Board approved Ernest “Joey” Chancellor as the Assistant Principal II (12-month) for Meigs Middle School at the September 27, 2021, School Board Meeting.

Joey Chancellor is an educator with 30 years of experience. He began his career as an educational assistant in Milwaukee Public Schools, finished his teaching degree, and became an Elementary and then Middle School teacher in Appleton, Wisconsin, and later an Associate Principal in both Green Bay and New London, Wisconsin.

Chancellor moved to Okaloosa County with his wife, Catherine, an Okaloosa County School District Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Instructional Coach, and jumped back into a fourth-grade classroom. He then took a job as the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) Interventionist and most recently as an Assistant Principal II (10-month) at Meigs Middle School.

Chancellor is the proud father of three children, Shalesa who lives in Texas, Adara who lives in Okaloosa and currently works at Meigs Middle School as a Title I paraprofessional, and a son Carston, who is a Junior at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Also, his niece, Eva Nilson, has relocated to Florida and is a paraprofessional at Kenwood Elementary School. Needless to say, the Chancellor household stays enmeshed in the world of education.

Chancellor says he “is excited to continue his journey in education and hopes to always have the best interest of kids, staff, and community in mind when making important educational decisions.” He believes that connecting with students is the best way to help young people grow into positive citizens within our community.
