Walton County Sheriff’s Office schedules public bargaining meeting for May 6, 2026

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office announced on Apr. 23 that a collective bargaining negotiation meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at noon Central Standard Time. The meeting is set to be held at the downtown DeFuniak Springs office located at 37 S 10th Street in DeFuniak Springs.

This session is open to the public and will involve negotiations between the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and the Professional Firefighters of Walton County, Local 4413 of the International Association of Fire Fighters.

According to the announcement, reasonable modifications for access to these meetings will be made upon request in adherence with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Individuals requiring accommodations are asked to contact the Human Resources Manager at least 48 hours before the meeting.

The notice also states that Walton County Sheriff’s Office is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages veterans as well as individuals with disabilities to apply for positions. The agency highlights its compliance with state and federal laws giving preference and priority to certain service members and veterans, including their spouses and family members. Certain service members may also qualify for waivers of post-secondary educational requirements under Chapter 295 of Florida Statutes.
