Tourist Development Council and TDC Advisory Committee Applications Open October 17, 2022

The Walton County Tourism Department will accept applications for seats on the Walton County Tourist Development Council and the three TDC Advisory Committees (Destination Improvement, Marketing & Communications, and North Walton Tourist Advisory) from 9:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17 until 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28.

The mission of the Walton County Tourism Department is to direct and manage activities that will strengthen the position of Walton County in the tourism marketplace, while also increasing the tourism economy of Walton County. The tourism department will manage and maintain our beaches as a primary attraction and serve as a responsible industry organization to take a leadership role in addressing issues that affect tourism and the quality of life in Walton County. In an effort to increase community involvement, the volunteer advisory committees were established. These committees will assist with tourist development and creative initiatives.

To learn more about the applications, guidelines, and code of conduct, go to visitsouthwalton.com/committee-applications, where the online application will be posted at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 17. The webpage will also have a link to download the application if you’d prefer to mail or drop it off at the Visitor Center, located at 25777 US Highway 331 South, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.

A Fort Walton Beach area woman faces charges after allegedly throwing beer bottles at a toddler who tried to help her following a fall from her bicycle. Witnesses say quick action by the child prevented injury, and no harm was reported.
