Rep. Matt Gaetz, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 1st district since 2017, recently shared a series of tweets addressing issues related to Venezuelan gangs and security partnerships with El Salvador. Gaetz, who has been an active political figure since his tenure in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016, continues to engage with national and international security matters.

On March 17, 2025, Gaetz tweeted about the deportation of Venezuelan gangs from the United States to El Salvador. He expressed gratitude towards El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele for this initiative. "Venezuelan Gangs in the US will be deported to El Salvador. Thank you @nayibbukele".

Later that day, Gaetz highlighted El Salvador's transformation from being known as "the murder capital of the world" to becoming a "trusted partner for security." Again, he thanked President Bukele for this change. "El Salvador went from the murder capital of the world to our trusted partner for security. Thank you @nayibbukele!".

On March 18, 2025, Gaetz commented on domestic policy decisions regarding Venezuelan gangs under different U.S. administrations. He criticized Vice President Kamala Harris while praising former President Donald Trump for their respective handling of these groups in Colorado and at CECOT (Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo). "Kamala let them run apartment complexes in Colorado. Trump sent them to CECOT."
