U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz has accepted an invitation from Rep. Ami Bera to brief the House Intelligence Committee on information regarding assassination teams targeting former President Donald Trump. Gaetz, representing Florida's 1st district, sent a letter to Bera confirming his acceptance.
This development follows Gaetz's revelation on Tuesday night about one of the five assassination teams allegedly being Iranian. The Biden-Harris administration subsequently briefed the Trump campaign on one of these threats. However, Rep. Bera, a member of the Intelligence Committee, expressed concerns over the dissemination of such information, labeling it as "dangerous" and invited Gaetz for a classified briefing.
In his letter to Bera and the committee, Gaetz wrote: "I accept your invitation to brief you and the Committee on information I received about the threat teams targeting former President Trump. I would also be pleased to bring with me my General Counsel, who was also present at the briefings I had. Please let me know when and where I should arrive."
