Washington, D.C. — U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL-01) introduced the “Guarding American Zones Against Palestinian Immigration Act” (GAZA Act) today, which proposes a two-year moratorium on immigration from the Palestinian Authority to the United States. The legislation is co-sponsored by Representatives Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Mary Miller (R-IL), and Eli Crane (R-AZ).
The initiative follows the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, after which regions under the Palestinian Authority, including the Gaza Strip, have experienced significant violence and crime. According to Gaetz and his co-sponsors, several American allies such as Israel, Egypt, and Jordan have labeled Palestinian refugees as dangerous and declined to accept them. Despite this stance from regional allies, the Biden administration is reportedly considering allowing these refugees into the United States.
“If Palestinian refugees are too dangerous for our allies in the region, they are certainly too dangerous for the United States. The Biden administration's border policies have already exacerbated national security concerns across our country. A two-year moratorium on all immigration from Palestine is a common-sense measure to ensure the safety and security of the American people. We must prioritize the protection of our nation and its citizens above all else,” stated Congressman Gaetz.
