Washington, D.C. - U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz has introduced the 'State Border Security Act,' a companion bill to legislation previously introduced by Senator JD Vance. The bill aims to prohibit federal officers from removing barbed wire or any other barriers set up by state governments within 25 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border.

The introduction of this legislation comes after a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision that allowed the Biden administration to proceed with the removal of barriers erected on the border by the State of Texas. In response to this, Rep. Gaetz's bill includes a provision to exclude fencing that is built to encourage, rather than prevent, illegal immigration. It also grants the Attorney General the authority to request a court injunction relief if there is definitive evidence that a state government erected such fencing with the purpose of promoting illegal immigration.

"Last month, the Supreme Court gave the Biden administration the ability to destroy border fencing erected by Texas to protect its citizens from illegal aliens," said Congressman Gaetz. "My legislation, along with Sen. Vance's, will codify that states along the Southern Border have the right to protect their territory. Since the Biden administration refuses to take action, Congress must empower states to defend themselves against the unprecedented invasion at the Southern Border."

The full text of Congressman Gaetz's bill can be found on his official website. Additionally, the bill has received exclusive coverage by the Daily Caller.

This legislation highlights the ongoing debate surrounding border security and the role of state governments in protecting their borders. With the Biden administration facing criticism for its approach to border control, lawmakers like Congressman Gaetz are taking steps to ensure that states have the ability to defend themselves against illegal immigration.

As the bill makes its way through Congress, it remains to be seen how it will be received by lawmakers from both sides of the aisle. However, for Congressman Gaetz and Senator Vance, the goal is clear – to empower states and provide them with the necessary tools to protect their borders and ensure the safety of their citizens.
