The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its first Indoor Track & Field rankings of the 2023 season Monday afternoon.
The women's team starts the season ranked fifth in the nation after a stellar performance at the Clemson Invitational where they won 10 event titles. In addition to the event titles, the Gators had 21 event performances finish in the top-10 at the meet. On the track, Talitha Diggs, competed in two events, placing first in both and setting a new school record in the 300m. In the field Jasmine Moore excelled, being named Women's SEC Field Athlete of the Week for her performance in the triple jump where her jump of 14.44m is the leading mark in the nation so far this year.
Last season the women also started the year ranked fifth in the initial poll. They ended the year ranked first after capturing the women's programs second indoor title and first under Head Coach Mike Holloway.
The men's team begins the season ranked twelfth. In the lone meet so far this season, they won three events, capturing the 4x400, triple jump, and 600m titles. Sean Dixon-Bodie won Men's SEC Field Athlete of the Week honors for his performance in the triple jump. Dixon-Bodie's mark is second in the NCAA this year and just 0.14 meters behind the leading mark in the world this season.
The Gators travel to Fayetteville this week to take part in the Razorback Invitational on January 27 and 28 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
