Tom King Bayou pedestrian bridge now open

The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners and members of the Navarre community celebrated the opening of the Tom King Bayou pedestrian bridge in Navarre with a ribbon cutting today, Wed., Aug. 24. The pedestrian bridge connects the multi-use path that travels along East Bay Boulevard from Hwy. 98 to Hwy. 87 and creates a protected pedestrian feature to cross Tom King Bayou.

"Thank you to all of our partners who helped make this project happen," said Commissioner Dave Piech, District 4. "This was a collaborative effort between Santa Rosa County staff, the Florida Department of Transportation, Superior Construction, DRMP and American Consulting. The Tom King Bayou pedestrian bridge is also another great example of what can be done with the Local Option Sales Tax to improve safety in our community."

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) funded $766,955 of the total cost through a Local Agency Program (LAP) agreement and a large portion was paid for by the Local Option Sales Tax with the total cost for this project at $1,812,559.
