Battle of the Badges

3

City of Crestview Fire Department and City of Crestview Police Department are going head-to-head in the Battle of the Badges food drive to give back to Food for Thought Outreach.

Crestview PD and FD were challenged by the City of Defuniak Springs fire department and police department, who just completed the same challenge on April 25, raising over 19,000 food items. Each department will be collecting the following food items from Monday, May 9 – 16, 2022.

Items being collected: granola or breakfast bars, snack crackers, applesauce, fruit cups, peanut butter, jelly, pop top soup, pop top tuna, Chef Boyardee.

Food for Thought Outreach provides food to students in Walton and Okaloosa County to take home on the weekends, where they may not always have a meal waiting on them. Outside of raising food, so the youth do not go hungry, we are placing a fun twist on this challenge - the “badge” that collects the least amount of food items must clean the vehicles of the other department.

Who do you want to see win the challenge? You can drop off items at the specific locations in support of your favorite “badge” anytime from May 9 – May 16.

• Fire Department drop-off locations: Station 1 (321 West Woodruff Avenue,) Station 2 (2106 P.J. Adams Drive,) Station 3 (585 Brookmeade Drive,) as well as dispatch (located on the backside of City Hall)

• Police Department drop-off location: Police Department headquarters located at 201 Stillwell Blvd.

• Crestview Public Library will be taking donations for both badges.
