Okaloosa County School District recently issued the following announcement.
Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! Is scheduled for January 24-28, 2022. The purpose of Literacy Week is to raise awareness of reading and to inspire students and families to make reading a part of their daily routines. This year’s theme is Launch into Literacy: Blast off into New Worlds.
As you walk through the halls of our schools during Literacy Week you will find students and teachers dressed in non-traditional clothing. Some students will be dressed up as their favorite book characters or wearing space-related or neon dress as teachers share their favorite childhood books or read-alouds centered on space and technology. You might even find children dressed in pajamas and carrying a flashlight or stuffed animal as they “Snuggle Up and Read!”

- Schools are participating in Mission: 100 Minutes of Reading to celebrate the 100th day of school.
- Northwood Elementary School Students will be listening to stories read by an astronaut from space.
