School Board Approves New Administrators

Okaloosa County School District recently issued the following announcement.

The Okaloosa County School Board approved the following new administrators at January 10, 2022, School Board Meeting: Dr. Nathaniel Chatman as the Principal of Richbourg School, and Dr. Jason Driver as the Principal of Shoal River Middle School.

DR. NATHANIEL CHATMAN – RICHBOURG SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

Dr. Nathaniel Chatman is a product of the Okaloosa County School District and an educator with over 17 years of experience. He has a bachelor’s degree in Education from Florida State University, a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of West Florida, a Specialist in K-12 Leadership from Grand Canyon University, with an emphasis in Exceptional Student Education (ESE), and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Trident University International with an emphasis in Emotional or Behavioral Disorders (EBD).

Dr. Chatman is certified in both Florida and Georgia. His certifications include School Principal, Educational Leadership, Social Science 6-12, Behavioral Science 6-12, and NGCAR-PD reading endorsement. He has served as a substitute teacher, teacher, adjunct instructor in Leon, Madison, and Okaloosa Counties. He has taught 1st grade, 8th-grade critical thinking, 6-8 social studies, 6-8 bridge to AP Social Studies, 6-8 intensive reading, 6-8 intensive math, and adult education (all subjects) at NWFSC and Okaloosa Correctional Institution. He has served as an assistant principal for the past seven years. He has spent 2 years at Shoal River Middle School and the past 5 years at Bob Sikes Elementary.

Dr. Nathaniel Chatman is happily married to Roslyn Chatman, who works in education in Walton County, and he is the proud father of Layla Moore a 9th-grade student at Crestview High School. He is humble and excited to embark upon this new educational journey as Principal of Richbourg School. He is dedicated to student success and looks forward to making new connections with students and working collaboratively with fellow administrators, faculty, and staff members at Richbourg.

DR. JASON DRIVER – SHOAL RIVER MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

Dr. Jason Driver is a proud product of Okaloosa County Schools, having graduated from Choctawhatchee High School and Okaloosa-Walton Community College. ;He holds a bachelor’s degree in Religion from Florida State, a master’s degree in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University, a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction / Diversity Studies both from the University of West Florida.

Dr. Driver started working in Okaloosa County in 1998 at Crestview High School, where he eventually served as the Assistant Principal of Instruction in 2002. He left Crestview to serve as the Assistant Principal for Lewis School in 2011, before being named Principal in 2020.

During his career, Dr. Driver has presented and been invited to present at regional, national, and international conferences on college readiness, school leadership, school program and mentor development. He has also served as an adjunct instructor for the Teacher Education program at Northwest Florida State College.

In his spare time, Dr. Driver enjoys reading, writing, travel, following the Philadelphia Eagles, and spending time with his sixteen-year-old son, Brendan Joel. He is a strong advocate for his teachers and students and is excited for the opportunity to serve the Shoal River Middle School family.
