University of West Florida issued the following announcement on Nov. 23.

The 2021 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Women's  Soccer All-South Region Teams were announced Tuesday. The teams were voted  on by the region's sports information directors.

Blair Cowan and Destiny Hird received D2CCA Second Team honors.

Blair Cowan leads West Florida in goals with 10 and assists with five. Throughout the season Cowan has been a dominant part of the Argos offense being able to score from any position on the field and find scoring opportunities for her teammates. Cowan has 25 points on the season and has scored the game winning goal five times. Most recently against Embry- Riddle Blair scored the golden goal in overtime sending the Argos to round three of the NCAA Tournament. Cowan is in her first season with UWF.

Destiny Hird also received D2CCA Second team honors. Throughout the course of the season Hird's presence on the field has been a vital part of the Argos successful defense. Hird has successfully won the ball at midfield, taking it away from other opponents and getting the West Florida offense back in scoring position. With the help of Hird, West Florida has 10 shutouts on the seasons and has limited seven opponents to season low shot totals.

Up next the University of West Florida Women's Soccer team will host rounds three and four of the NCAA Tournament. On Dec.3 West Florida will face Florida Tech at the UWF Soccer Complex.
