RC races benefit homeless shelter, Christmas gifts for kids

4

City of Crestview issued the following announcement on Nov. 10.

The radio-controlled racing will be hot and heavy at the B&T RC Raceway this weekend, and the winners will be the Crestview Area Shelter for the Homeless and the annual Cops for Kids toy drive for under privileged families held by the Crestview Police Department.

The Community Charity Race’s practice runs will be Friday, Nov. 12 with qualifying races running Saturday, Nov. 13. The main race and charity presentation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14. Organizers are hoping to surpass their minimum assured donations.

“The minimum guaranteed donation to each charity is $1,200, but we’re hoping it ends up being more,” Linda Knapp said.

The B&T RC Raceway is at Brookmeade Park downhill from the Eglin Federal Credit Union Skate Park on Brookmeade Drive and has proven an exciting addition to Crestview’s recreational opportunities since it opened in 2020.

“We are looking forward to giving back to the Crestview community and offer our special thanks to the city for allowing us a place to promote the sport of radio-controlled car racing,” co-founder Don Knapp said.
