University of West Florida recently issued the following announcement.
After a dominant start to the season, Junior outside hitter Madi Cooler was selected as the GSC Offensive Player of the Week the conference announced on Tuesday.
Helping the Argonauts start a perfect 4-0 on the season, Cooler came up with timely kills all weekend and ended the Springhill Suites Invitational as the Most Outstanding Player. Totaling 54 kills in just 12 sets played, Cooler not only leads the Argonauts in numerous categories but also leads the conference in many metrics.
In the kills column, Cooler currently ranks second in the conference with an average of 4.50 kills per set. Additionally, she currently ranks fourth in the GSC in hitting % swinging an incredible .433 % and is second in the conference in points with 54 on the young season.
This recognition marks the third time in Cooler's career in which she has been named the GSC Offensive Player of the Week. The previous two awards came in 2018 when Cooler was with fellow conference team West Alabama.
Next up for Cooler and the Argonauts is a trip to Indianapolis, Ind. where they will take part in the UIndy Invitational. West Florida is scheduled to take on Cedarville at 1 pm on Friday (Sep. 10) and UIndy at 6 pm on Friday (Sep. 10) before playing two more opponents on Saturday (Sep. 11).
