CITY OF CRESTVIEW: Santa to tour Crestview neighborhoods by firetruck

Announce

City of Crestview issued the following announcement.

Starting Saturday, Santa Claus is giving the reindeer a rest and will tour Crestview via firetruck, visiting most city neighborhoods over the course of four days. Children are invited to come outside when they hear the siren and see the flashing lights and greet St. Nick.

“We love doing this every year,” Crestview Fire Department spokesman Capt. Corey Winkler said. “Firefighters love kids, and we love Santa, so we’re always happy to help him meet his friends in Crestview.”

To keep firefighters, Santa and their friends safe, Santa can’t interact with residents in person, but will talk with his fans from his perch atop a Crestview firetruck, and he and his firefighter friends will distribute treats as they drive along.

Santa will visit according to the following schedule:

• Dec. 19, 9 a.m., Duggan Avenue and Aplin Road to James Lee Boulevard

      • Dec. 20, 8 a.m., north of James Lee Boulevard from Valley Road to Old Bethel Road

      • Dec. 21, 3 p.m., East Redstone Avenue and John King Road within the city limits

• Dec. 22, 1 p.m., PJ Adams Parkway from State Road 85 to the Foxwood golf course.

Times are approximate and indicate when Santa’s firetruck run is scheduled to begin. His arrival in each neighborhood is dependent on the driving time from the start of the run. Santa’s tour of Crestview is, of course, dependent on his firefighter friends’ calls for service.

“If we have to rush to an emergency, we will take Santa on a make-up tour as soon as we can schedule it,” Capt. Winkler said.

“Santa is looking forward to seeing as many of his friends in Crestview as he can,” he said. “When you hear the sirens and see the flashing lights, run outside, stay safely back from the edge of the road, and cheer real loud!”
