CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH: Employee Spotlight: Amie Nelson-Wolf

Awards

City of Fort Walton Beach issued the following announcement.

Meet Amie Nelson-Wolf, Administrative Coordinator for the City’s Growth Management Department. Though she has only worked for the City for a year, she brings more than 20 years of office administration and management experience, already making big contributions to her department and the City. Her role is to serve as a point of contact and link among employees, internal departments, and external parties such as vendors, lenders and customers. She also improves office processes and policies and ensures the office operates smoothly. Amie loves her job and says, “My coworkers make coming to work fun!” She has a front seat to the development of FWB, something she is proud of and takes seriously. Her warm personality is perfect for her position. “I really enjoy interacting with our customers and being involved in what is happening in the community,” says Amie. “I like being a part of the growth and future of Fort Walton Beach.”

Amie is originally from Cumberland, Maryland, and has lived in seven different states along the East Coast. In 2013, she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in human resources while raising her two boys (Gabe and Tanner) and working full-time. In 2018, Amie moved her family to the FWB area after visiting a friend in Crestview. She says she was “looking for a change of scenery and fell in love with the beaches here!” She also has a Jack Russell Terrier named Charlie… “The best dog ever,” according to her! Amie is a dedicated mother and employee, and a joy to be around. The City is proud to have her on the team! Getting to know Amie Nelson-Wolf:

  • Hobbies? Reading and going to the beach. “I like being outdoors with my family and friends. I love the beach. It is so peaceful and calming.”
  • Favorite place to visit? Outer Banks, North Carolina.
  • Who do you admire the most? “My mom. She was a fighter and would have given you the shirt off her back if you needed it.”
  • If you could learn anything, what would it be? Learn to speak Latin.
  • Favorite movie quote? “Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.” – Dorothy Gale, The Wizard of Oz
  • If you could be anyone for a day, who would it be? “My children. I would love to view life from their perspective.”
  • Something about yourself that would surprise others. “I am a seven-year cancer survivor.”
