City of Fort Walton Beach issued the following announcement.
Meet Officer Marcus Montgomery, a five-year veteran of the Fort Walton Beach Police Department and former Air Force Munitions Systems Specialist (Ammo Troop). Marcus grew up in a military family on the west coast with dreams of one day becoming a police officer. He landed in the FWB area 11 years ago thanks to his enlistment in the Air Force and fell in love with the Gulf Coast. He went through the police academy and joined the FWB Police Department in 2015. With a passion to serve his community, Marcus says he enjoys being an officer because he “gets to interact with the public, make connections in the community and grow relationships with citizens.” He is proud to be a part of the City of Fort Walton Beach family and appreciates that the City has his back and allows him to be himself.
Marcus was born at Travis Air Force Base and grew up in Fairfield, California. His father is a career military man and his parents still live in California. He has one younger brother who is also in the Air Force, stationed out west. Marcus and his wife, Kristen, have a three-year-old daughter, Zayliegh. He enjoys living in the Fort Walton Beach area and says he likes “the beach and the small-town feel.” Currently, Marcus is working toward a degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Digital Forensics, all while protecting the City of FWB! - Hobbies? Photography and drone photography; video games
- What is your favorite place to visit? Slidell, Louisiana. “I like visiting my wife’s family there and being a part of their Mardi Gras celebration.”
- Who do you admire the most? “My dad. He is always encouraging, and he always gives it to me straight!”
- If you could learn anything, what would it be? Play the piano

- If you could be anyone for a day, who would it be? Denzel Washington
- Something about yourself that would surprise others. “I am a nerd. I love video games and cosplay!”
