CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH: Fort Walton Beach Police Department Recognizes 2019 Employee and Officer of the Year

City of Fort Walton Beach issued the following announcement.

The Fort Walton Beach Police Department and the Fort Walton Beach City Council recognized the department’s 2019 Employee of the Year and 2019 Officer of the Year at the Feb. 25, 2020, City Council meeting. Brittny Johnson received the Employee of the Year Award and Officer Karry Johnson received the Officer of the Year Award.

“These two individuals are the backbone of the department. Every day they set out to make a positive impact on our community. It is this kind of hard work and dedication that makes the City of Fort Walton Beach a better place to live, work and visit,” said Police Chief Robert Bage.

Brittny Johnson has been a communications officer with the Fort Walton Beach Police Department for more than 10 years. She is a loyal, dedicated, and excellent at her job. She continually displays a positive and professional attitude and is courteous to the public, as well as fellow employees. Brittny serves as an informal leader within the communications center and is often called upon to supervise in the absence of her supervisor. She helps develop schedules and attends staff meetings when needed. She has earned the respect and admiration of her fellow employees and does a great job while serving in a supervisor’s capacity. Brittny continually exceeds expectations.

Officer Karry Johnson has been a Fort Walton Beach Police Officer since December 2018. During this time, he has excelled in his duties and has become a valued asset to the organization. Karry can be characterized as humble and caring, and also has a hidden sense of humor. Over the past year, Karry has maintained a consistently positive attitude and received several department accolades including nominations for police commendations and a lifesaving award. His dedication to his job, his fellow officers, his department and the City of Fort Walton Beach are admirable and deserving of recognition.
