Rep. Matt Gaetz, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 1st district since 2017, recently shared his views on various topics through a series of tweets. Gaetz, who has been active in politics since serving in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016, expressed opinions on international relations and domestic political matters.

On February 2, 2025, Rep. Gaetz commented on foreign aid and corruption. In his tweet, he stated that “President Bukele is correct,” emphasizing the importance for U.S. policymakers to understand that “the governments that DO want extensive USAID entanglement are often involved in the most corrupt enterprises in the world.” The full tweet can be viewed here.

Later that day, Gaetz addressed trade relations with Canada. His tweet read: “Oh Canada, (join us and we will) stand on guard for thee! (otherwise, probably more tariffs).” This statement suggests potential economic measures if cooperation is not achieved. The complete tweet is available here.

In another post on the same day, Gaetz discussed American democracy in response to comments about Iraq. He tweeted: “Well that was on the ballot, Bill. Americans chose differently. It’s called Democracy – that thing you foolishly tried to create in fucking Iraq, of all places.” This tweet can be accessed here.
