Okaloosa County Sheriff investigates fatal shooting of Mary Esther man near Crestview

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early in the morning in north Okaloosa County. According to authorities, a motorist called 9-1-1 shortly before 6 a.m. after seeing a man lying in the roadway on Taylor Road, which is located off Lake Silver Road north of Crestview.

Deputies who responded to the scene found a 20-year-old man from Mary Esther deceased. Shell casings were discovered near his body, and law enforcement officials processed the area for evidence.

A suspect connected to the case is currently in custody in another jurisdiction. The sheriff’s office stated that more information will be released at a later time.
