A woman from the Fort Walton Beach area was arrested on April 15 following an incident involving a three-year-old child on Circle Drive.

Deputies responded to a disturbance around 6:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Circle Drive. The investigation found that Carolyn Miller became involved in an altercation after falling from her bicycle.

Witnesses reported that a young child approached Miller, apparently to check if she was all right. According to statements, Miller then picked up two beer bottles and threw them toward the child. Witnesses said the bottles were thrown with enough force that if the child had not ducked, he could have been hit in the head.

The child’s parents and several nearby residents provided sworn statements confirming what happened. Deputies said Miller could not give a clear explanation for her actions and only stated she believed she was being attacked. She suffered a minor finger injury consistent with falling off her bicycle.

Miller has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. No injuries to the child were reported.
