Former Congressman Matt Gaetz, who has represented Florida’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, posted several comments on his X (formerly Twitter) account addressing recent events and public figures.
On October 20, 2025, Gaetz expressed gratitude for journalism on animal welfare issues, stating: “Thank you for your incredible journalism on this, Laura! Meg is outstanding and a true fighter for animal welfare.”
Later that day, he shared an opinion about another public figure with the message: “I’m glad George is out.” This post was published on October 21, 2025.
In a subsequent tweet also from October 21, Gaetz commented on political commentator Mark Levin’s record regarding military conflicts: “Mark Levin has been in favor of 10 of the last 3 wars.”
Matt Gaetz began serving as the U.S. Representative for Florida’s 1st District in 2017 after replacing Jeff Miller. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016. Born in Hollywood, Florida in 1982 and currently residing in Niceville, Gaetz holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University and a Juris Doctor from the College of William & Mary.
