Former Congressman Matt Gaetz, who has represented Florida’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing topics ranging from international politics to public perceptions of his past commentary.

On July 22, 2025, Gaetz posed a question on social media: “What is Jewish Supremacy?” Later that same day, he referenced previous criticism he faced for his positions in 2017, stating: “We were called ‘Putin’s lawyers’ for saying this stuff in 2017.”

The following day, July 23, Gaetz commented on political developments abroad with the post: “Nation of the Rising Sun sees populism rising.”

Gaetz began serving in Congress after replacing Jeff Miller in 2017 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016. Born in Hollywood, Florida in 1982 and currently residing in Niceville, Gaetz holds degrees from Florida State University and the College of William & Mary.
