Doing some spring cleaning; culling the book, CD, Blu-ray and DVD collections; and replenishing those same libraries and treasures with new ones will benefit local high school students’ cultural travel to Crestview’s Sister City, as well as the Crestview History Museum.
The museum’s Second Saturday opening on March 11 features a Bush House Market in the adjacent Wilson Street parking lot. It is organized by the Crestview Area Sister City Ambassadors student organization, which is raising funds for a June trip to Noirmoutier.
The Crestview Area Sister City Program, which will have a booth at the flea market, joins the history museum as one of the historic Bush House’s tenants. A co-current book and media sale on the house’s front porch will benefit the museum.
Of the 46 available booth spaces, more than half have been reserved, said the Ambassadors’ parent adviser, Erika Follmar. Booth space is available for a $10 minimum donation to the student organization. Crafters and food truck vendors are also welcome to participate.
“This is a great opportunity to have a flea market or garage sale table,” Mrs. Follmar said, “It’s not just for businesses and vendors. This market is for everything.”
Mrs. Follmar said the Ambassadors hope the flea market and crafts fair will become a regular event, supporting the student organization that, until its faculty adviser had to resign when she moved out of town, was a Crestview High School club. It is now open to any North Okaloosa County high school student, including home schoolers.
The Sister City Program is accepting flea market materials to sell to benefit the student organization’s June trip expenses. The Crestview History Museum likewise welcomes donations of gently used books, DVDs, video games and Blu-ray discs. Donations may be brought to the Bush House, 198 S. Wilson St., through March 8.
“It’s open to all vendors, businesses, artists, churches, and civic or school groups selling items such as garage sale and flea market items, crafts, arts, gifts, seasonal décor, health and wellness, farmer’s market items, cottage food items and other specialty items,” Mrs. Follmar said.

The flea market, crafts fair and book sale run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 11. The history museum is open for free visits and guided tours during the same times.
