Former Congressman Matt Gaetz, who has represented Florida’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, posted a series of tweets on August 12 and 13, 2025.

On August 12, Gaetz tweeted, “The National Guard will defeat the homeless.” Later that day, he posted another tweet containing only an emoji: “”. On August 13, Gaetz shared another emoji tweet: “”.

Matt Gaetz has served as the U.S. Representative for Florida’s 1st District since replacing Jeff Miller in 2017. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016. Born in Hollywood, Florida in 1982, Gaetz is currently 40 years old and resides in Niceville. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University (2003) and a Juris Doctor from the College of William & Mary (2007).
