Former Congressman Matt Gaetz, who has represented Florida’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, posted a series of statements on social media addressing cultural and media issues.

On September 9, 2025, Gaetz wrote, “Not wanting to go to the bathroom with transsexuals doesn’t make you mentally ill.” On the same day, he also urged his followers to change their viewing habits by posting, “Stop watching Fox News”. The following day, September 10, he posted another message: “Inject this into my veins”.

Matt Gaetz began serving in Congress in 2017 after replacing Jeff Miller and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016. Born in Hollywood, Florida in 1982 and currently residing in Niceville, Gaetz holds a BS from Florida State University and a JD from the College of William & Mary.
