Destin Library’s Birthday Celebration and Open House

City of Destin issued the following announcement on March 3.

Everyone is invited to the Destin Library for an Open House Birthday Celebration on March 16 from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. Come wish the library building a Happy 19th Birthday while

familiarizing yourself with all the new services and resources available. This celebration also honors the Friends Guild of the Destin Library for their continued commitment to

keeping the library both functional and beautiful.

The Open House is an opportunity for the community to see the many improvements the Destin Library has implemented with an aim toward enriching patron experiences and

increasing ease of use. They have installed an RFID tagging system for their collection and a Self-Service Kiosk where patrons can check out materials and access print jobs from

the public computers. There is a new Tablet Station with six Samsung tablets patrons can use along with four catalog tablet stations to search for items to check out or place on

hold. The Friends Guild of the Destin Library generously provided funding for much needed updates to the Young Adult and pre-school reading areas as well as an entirely new

elementary and middle-grade reading area. Thanks to the Friends Guild, there are now inviting, comfortable spaces for patrons of all ages to enjoy.

This event is free and open to the public and there will be cake and punch for everyone to enjoy. If you have any questions, please contact the library at 850-837-8572 or

library@cityofdestin.com.
