The City of Fort Walton Beach hired award-winning photojournalist Devon Ravine, formerly of the Northwest Florida Daily News. Devon will serve as a Public Relations Specialist working with Public Relations Manager Mikiko Tucker.

Devon was with the Daily News for 31 years and is excited to start his second job with the city. He was the last Daily News reporter left in the local area and is working with the paper to determine the way ahead to confirm if any reporters will be available for local media coverage. We will report back once we confirm the status of the local media availability from the Daily News.

“Before taking the position as public relations specialist with the City of Fort Walton Beach, I worked as a staff photographer and reporter with the Northwest Florida Daily News. I’ve covered stories both big and small in Okaloosa County since 1991 and now I plan to put these skills to use telling the stories of the City of Fort Walton Beach. I’m a graduate of the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism and originally hail from the damp state of Washington.  When not taking pictures, shooting video or writing, I enjoy traveling, riding my mountain bike, and trying to brew the perfect cup of coffee. My wife is a Fort Walton Beach High School Viking and my daughter graduated from Choctawhatchee High School, so I split my allegiances between schools.  I’m look forward to serving the residents of Fort Walton Beach in my new role.”

Devon will be making the rounds to each department to determine photography needs. We look forward to getting great action shots of our sporting events at the Recreation Center as well as around the community. We plan to create a photographic inventory of our fleet of trucks and equipment at Public Works, our parks, and facilities around town. We’ll also be scheduling professional head shots of the staff and new council soon.  Please let us know when you have an upcoming event or project that lends to a great story and great photos. We’re here to serve! Email your event information and flyer to pr@fwb.org

Say “Cheese” to a great year ahead!
