A special City Council meeting/Executive Session will be held in Fort Walton Beach Council Chambers, 107 Miracle Strip Parkway SW on September 27th at 5:00 p.m. immediately preceding the regular City Council meeting at 6:00 p.m. 

The purpose of the Executive Session is to hold discussions between the chief executive officer of the City, or his or her representative, and the City Council regarding the Firefighter’s Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Battalion Chief’s Collective Bargaining Agreement. Pursuant to Section 447.605(1) and 286.011 Florida Statutes, this meeting is closed and exempt from the public.

A Walton County Grand Jury has indicted Dr. Thomas Shaknovsky for second-degree manslaughter after a surgical error led to an Alabama man’s death in August 2024. Authorities say Shaknovsky mistakenly removed a patient’s liver instead of his spleen during surgery.
