Bridge Removal Project to begin on West Wilson Street

Walton County recently issued the following announcement.

Walton County Public Works crews are scheduled to begin the bridge removal project on West Wilson Street beginning Monday, March 28, 2022. We anticipate this project taking 

approximately one week to complete. Upon completion, this site will provide recreational opportunities around the former bridge site as well as restoring navigable waterway access 

in this vicinity. The public is encouraged to use caution while traveling in this area. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Walton County Public Works at 850-

A Walton County Grand Jury has indicted Dr. Thomas Shaknovsky for second-degree manslaughter after a surgical error led to an Alabama man’s death in August 2024. Authorities say Shaknovsky mistakenly removed a patient’s liver instead of his spleen during surgery.
